Biju George has been appointed as the new fielding coach of the Delhi Capitals

The squad, captained by Rishabh Pant, will meet in Mumbai on Thursday (March 10), however, the skipper will start later. On March 27, the Delhi Capitals meet the five-time title winners Mumbai Indians (MI) in their opening match.

“We have taken him for the season and he comes with good years of experience – both in IPL and international cricket,” a promoter of the franchise told in an interaction confirming the recruitment.

Biju formerly worked with the KKR for 2 years (2015-16)

Biju is a former India women’s team fielding coach who has served with the team’s most recent coaches, WV Raman, Tushar Arothe, and Ramesh Powar.  Biju formerly worked with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for 2 years (2015 and 2016) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for one year in 2020. In the interim, as a coach, he also handled the Kuwait national squad.

Furthermore, the Delhi Capitals (DC) are concerned about the inclusion of their South African stars, Anrich Nortje as well as Lungi Ngidi. Though Nigidi is in the national squad to play Bangladesh in 3 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) from March 18 to 23, Nortje is already out owing to an injury.

Nortje, as secured by the Delhi franchise in the retentions, which occurred before the 2022 mega auction, Nortje is anticipated to join the team, however, there is no clarity on Ngidi, who might also play in the two-Test series versus Bangladesh, which concludes only on April 12. The franchise of the Delhi Capitals is hopeful that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would take up the matter with Cricket South Africa (CSA).

However, the Indian Premier League’s 15th edition going to block a two-month complete cricket calendar. Where the 2022 season will feature with more two additional franchises to the existing eight teams (Gujarat Titans – GT and Lucknow Super Giants – LSG). Therefore, this season will definitely promise the spectators to witness an exciting event.
