IPL 2022: Biggest Gain In Salary, Who Won The Most?

The IPL 2022 mega auctions were unlike any other mega auction. Ten teams bid and outbid each other in a two-day epic affair. There were many players who received a windfall in their salaries. Few players received such a major fillip in their contracts that it almost seems unbelievable. These players proved their mettle playing for their respective franchises. Hence the team owners didn’t mind shelling out the money they eventually did. Here Is About IPL 2022 Highest Gainers.

IPL 2022 Highest Gainers  :

We look at 5 players who made huge gains in salary:

#5 Prasidh Krishna [Gain: 9.80 crores]

Prasidh Krishna was decent for Kolkata without being spectacular. He kept hitting the hard lengths that assisted him in the UAE leg. His pace made people take notice of him quite early. Krishna’s stocks rose the moment Virat Kohli spoke glowingly about him. He has the tendency to trouble the best of batsmen with his hard lengths.

He has been a constant part of India’s squad for quite some time now. His player of the series exploits against West Indies came at just the right time. He went on to receive a paycheque of INR 10 crores from Rajasthan. Krishna gained a massive INR 9.80 crores from last season where he earned a paltry INR 20 lacs.

#4 Wanindu Hasaranga [Gain: 10.25 crores]

He was arguably the player of the tournament in T20 World Cup 2021. Hasaranga didn’t have a hugely impressive IPL 2021 wherein he featured in all but two games. He wasn’t given a long run. But it was always expected that Hasaranga will go for big bucks in the mega auction. Not many expected that RCB will go all out for Hasaranga once again. Bangalore did and acquired him for INR 10.75 crores. Hasaranga gained a massive INR 10.25 crores as his last year’s salary was just INR 50 lacs.

#3 Harshal Patel [Gain: 10.55 crores]

RCB traded Patel from Delhi ahead of the 2021 season. Patel repaid the faith in a spectacular fashion. He won the purple cap equalling Dwayne Bravo’s league record of 32 wickets in a season. Patel was always going to be one of the most sought after bowlers in the auction. Teams staged a bidding war for Harshal Patel. RCB managed to fight off competition as they paid INR 10.75 crores to buy him back. Patel who’s IPL contract last year was a mealy INR 20 lacs, received a pay jump of INR 10.55 crores.

#2 Liam Livingstone [Gain: 10.75 crores]

Liam Livingstone was talked about highly when he represented Rajasthan in 2021. RR acquired him for real cheap at INR 75 lacs. But Livingstone could never really come into his own the last season. He surprisingly excelled in the T20 World Cup 2021 that followed the IPL. Livingstone was one player that teams were tracking closely. He was expected to fetch a great sum at the auction. Punjab acquired Livingstone for a humongous INR 11.5 crores thereby gaining INR 10.75 crores in a matter of just few months.

#1 Deepak Chahar [Gain: 13.80 crores]

Deepak Chahar had a breakthrough season with the Chennai in 2018. He was soon fast tracked into the Indian team. Deepak’s ability to swing the new ball and make inroads separates him from the pack. Chahar is a handy lower order batsmen too. He singlehandedly won India the 2nd game in Sri Lanka and almost won a game against South Africa.

Chahar was almost on an equal pedestal with Shardul Thakur if not more. His bowling allrounder prowess was always going to work in his favour big time. The fact that he arrived before Thakur in the auction helped him immensely. Chennai broke the bank for Chahar paying him INR 14 crores who earlier salary was INR 10 lacs. Chahar’s pay gain was the highest as the number stands at an earth-shattering INR 13.80 crores.
