The final match at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart started with Hobart winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. Sydney Thunder started their innings with a strong partnership between the openers Jason Sangha and Captain David Warner. Both of them were strongly scoring runs together for about 10 overs. They had a partnership of 97 runs, with Warner scoring 48 off 32 balls and being dismissed in the 10th over. Sangha stayed on until the 16th over and finished with 67 runs of 42 balls.
After their dismissals, there were some decent performances from the batting squad which totaled up to 182/7. Meredith and Hobart Captain Ellis were the best bowlers who ended up with 3 wickets each.
Mitchell Owen’s Show
Mitchell Owen was the showman tonight, the player and his bat were determined to win tonight. With a strike rate of 257, he hit 108 in 42 balls, which was the fastest hundred in the BBL Final. He hit eleven 6’s and six 4’s to reach his record-breaking century. After his dismissal in the 10th over, Matthew Wade was 3rd down on the pitch, leading the way to victory with his 32 off 17 balls.
Tanveer Sangha took 2 wickets for 43 runs in 4 overs, but his efforts went in vain in front of Hobart’s dominance. Big Bash League 2024-25 ends here with Hobart Clinching their first-ever BBL title.
