Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Stars Highlights
Being invited to bat first, the Stars made a steady start with 56 for 2 in the first six overs.
D’Arcy Short, who walked into bat at number 3, scored the most runs for the side, as he hit a 42-ball 60 to keep the scoreboard tickling during the middle overs.
There were still 32 balls left in the innings when Short got out, but thanks to Alex Ross 35, and Bazley’s decent 16 added with some late contributions from Jamie Overton (6*) and Liam Scott (8*), the Stars were managed to score another 50 to finish their 20-over run at 165 for 6.
Melbourne Stars failed to chase 166 at Adelaide
The Stars, in reply, failed to chase down the target despite being their star-studded batting line-up.
International stars Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell scored 27 and 15, respectively. Their contributions with the bat were extremely necessary given their batting position and experience, but they were not able to convert their starts to big innings.
Sam Harper was the top run-scorer for the Stars with a 44-ball 48, which was not enough in an over 8 runs per over chase.
Llyod Pope was the pick of the bowlers for Adelaide Strikers, as he grabbed three wickets by giving just 21 in his 4 overs. While Strikers captain Matthew Short and Jamie Overton bagged two wickets each.
