Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is been ruled out for the next two next games for India because of a Hamstring Niggle during the match between Pakistan on 16th June 2019 at Old Trafford Ground.

Bhuvneshwar was injured during the fourth ball of the second over and immediately he was taken off the field. After that, he was examined by team physio Patrick Farhart and taken a decision to keep him off the field. Vijay Shankar was given duty with the ball to fill the place of Bhuvi.

“Bhuvi’s case looks like a niggle, a case of slipping on the footmarks. It doesn’t look too serious at the moment and looks like he could recover in a couple of games from now, maximum of three games,”- Kohli at the post-match presentation event.

Mohammad Shami may be replaced in place of injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the next 2-3 matches. And soon as Bhuvneshwar recovers, he will join the squad.

“He is going to be an important factor for us so hopefully he can recover in time. But we have Shami with us and it shouldn’t be much of a worry for us. Even Bhuvi doesn’t think his niggle is too bad and that time would heal it,”- Kohli added.

Bhuvneshwar is the second Indian to get injured after Shikar Dhawan injured with a hairline fracture. In absence of Dhawan, K.L.Rahul is promoted to the top order and Vijay Shankar is added to the mix.

Last night after the win against Pakistan, in absence of Top-order batsman Dhawan and the Key bowler Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, India has proved that they have a strong bench on their side.

India will take on Afghanistan in their next fixture on 22 June 2019, at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground.
