BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Lauds Rahul Dravid For Developing Youngsters At The NCA

The Indian side got better of two heavyweights of world Cricket within the span of few months. Firstly, they retained the Border Gavaskar trophy in Australia with a 2-1 series win against the Baggy Greens. Later, the ‘Men in Blue’ dominated the English side on the Indian soil. Debutants like Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel propelled brilliantly for the Indians in the absence of their key players.

India’s line of back-up players were one of the prime reason behind their win against Australia in the ‘Down Under’ series. Young guns got their chances when regular players were injured and they haven’t disappointed Indian fans a bit. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel made most of his debut within the England collection with 27 wickets in three matches after changing the injured Ravindra Jadeja.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Lauded Indian Legend Rahul Dravid For Providing Strong Bench Strength

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly praised his former team-mate and India legend Rahul Dravid for looking after the second-string of players of Team India and providing the team with a strong bench-strength.

He praised Dravid for his work behind the development of players such as Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Sourav Ganguly lauded players such as Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur for stepping up whenever they have got an opportunity for the team. Rahul Dravid is the head coach of the NCA.

“I always say that Rahul Dravid has done a great job at the NCA (in Bangalore) as he looks after the second-string players. Mohammed Siraj, you know I see a lot of talent in him, Shardul Thakur every time they have got opportunities they have just stood up.

“We spoke about Bumrah for all of last year, but India wins without him as well. In Australia, the last Test match, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, no Ishant Sharma in the squad, and you beat Australia. That’s remarkable,” Ganguly said in an exclusive interview on India Today.

The Indian squad is currently pretty strong to face any challenges and coming forward they’ll concentrate much more on the T20s since the T20 World cup is on the way this year.

WTC Finals Will be Played At The Ages Bowl Stadium, Southampton

The 48-year-old also confirmed that the final will be played in Southampton, instead of Lord’s, as the Ageas Bowl Stadium has a five-star hotel beside it. The ICC, however, are yet to confirm the same.

“I’m looking forward to attending the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand in Southampton. Yeah, it is in Southampton. It was decided a long time ago.

“Due to Covid and they [in Southampton] have the hotel absolutely close. When England resumed play after Covid, they had a lot of matches in Southampton and Manchester due to the same reason,” Ganguly added.
