BCCI To Hold Pre-IPL Fitness Assessment Camp At NCA For 25-Players

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is organizing a camp for around 25 non-Test cricketers before the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on March 26, 2022. The Indian board has reportedly instructed all national players who are just not now part of the Test team to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA)  in Bengaluru. Here is about BCCI Plans To IPL Fitness Assessment Camp.

The men will go through a 10-day fitness routine considering injuries have been a significant problem for the senior team previously. KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, and Washington Sundar have all been sidelined several games in recent times due to injuries. To counteract this, the national selection panel has suggested the BCCI hold a program and analyze the fitness level of the sportsmen.

As per an insider, the session was supposed to begin on Saturday (March 5), but the participants were requested to arrive the day before. All national-level players, whether signed or unsigned, have been called up to attend the campaign.  Bhuvneshwar Kumar, KL Rahul, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Venkatesh Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Hooda, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, and Washington Sundar are among those on this listing.

It should be mentioned that the players playing in the present Ranji Trophy will have to travel to Bangalore following the conclusion of the final round of league matches on Sunday (March 6). Furthermore, Surya Kumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who recently picked up injuries, are already receiving treatment at the NCA.

“There are about 25 of them. The NCA will assess their fitness levels ahead of the IPL. The purpose is to have a camp before they disperse for their respective IPL duties,” said BCCI official.

Importantly, all-rounder Axar Patel, who is currently sidelined in the current 1st Test versus Sri Lanka, would be eligible for inclusion for the 2nd game. “Axar Patel is currently undergoing his rehab and is not available for selection for the first Test. He will be assessed later to ascertain his selection for the second Test,” he added.

Furthermore, this camp would undoubtedly assist individual players in determining their fitness level in all aspects before the prestigious Indian T20 League. As many prominent figures are added to the program list, it will be quite instructive to see who will be completely fit for the mega tournament.
