BCCI Confirms VVS Laxman Will Travel With Team India For Ireland T20 Series

VVS Laxman will travel to Ireland: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially confirmed that the former Indian batsman will be assuming the role of coach for India’s tour of Ireland which is scheduled to begin on June 26. During this time, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid will be in charge of the senior member team for both the postponed 5th Test and the white-ball series that will take place in England.

Just after the conclusion of the five-match Twenty20 International series versus South Africa on June 19 in Bengaluru, it is anticipated that Dravid would become a member of the touring side.

The secretary of the BCCI, Jay Shah, issued a statement on Wednesday confirming that Laxman would accompany the Indian team to Dublin. A comparable type of agreement was also struck the year before prior when Dravid, who was head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) at the time, played Sri Lanka in a white-ball series while Ravi Shastri was away with the Test squad in England.

VVS has a significant amount of expertise in the field of coaching

As everything is underway, the former Indian batsman VVS Laxman will be taking over as Dravid’s replacement as the coach for the Indian team in Ireland. The former batsman for India is presently working as the Director of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. It is noteworthy to emphasize that Laxman has a significant amount of expertise in the field of coaching.

Before taking on his current role as NCA director in Bengaluru, the former Indian batsman served as a batting consultant for the Indian domestic squad Bengal and in a coaching position with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also led the World Cup-winning U-19 group earlier this year in the West Indies.

After the completion of the Indian Premier League, South Africa will travel to India for a 5-match Twenty20 International series. The BCCI has already named the team that will compete against the SA. Although the senior Indian players will take part in the tour of England, it has been reported that the same group who competed versus South Africa also faces Ireland in the 2 Twenty20 Internationals that are scheduled to take place. Both of the T20I matches are scheduled to take place in Dublin.
