BCCI Confirmed Skipper Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Has Not Opted For Rest In ODIs, Prasidh Krishna And Krunal Pandya Likely To Play In Upcoming ODI Series

India vs England tour started on 5th Feb 2021 and will end by 28th March 2021. This is a long tour containing 4 Tests, 5 T20 and 3 ODIs. There are some player who are and will be part of all 3 formats like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, etc. However, some players will be handed rest for some games considering India’s busy schedule ahead this year.

No Rest For Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma In Complete Tour

India played 4 Test and 2 T20 for now and after playing the rest of the T20 in Ahmedabad, the squad will travel to Pune for 3 ODIs, which will be played behind closed doors. The ODIs will be played in the span of 6 days and there are high chances of muscle fatigue here which can cause an injury. But BCCI clearly has different plans with players.

BCCI sources have confirmed the availability of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the ODI series against Eoin Morgan and his men. “Neither skipper Virat Kohli nor his deputy Rohit Sharma has opted for rest. There aren’t many surprises as we prepare for World T20,” said a BCCI official as quoted by the Times of India.

Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya Most Likely To Be Played In ODIs Against England

Two likely contenders to earn their maiden India ODI call-up are Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna and Baroda captain Krunal Pandya. Though Krunal Pandya has played 18 T20Is for India, making his debut in 2018, Prasidh Krishna is yet to earn any call from the Men in Blue.

Prasidh Krishna, who plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was one of the most successful bowlers in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, picking up 14 wickets in the tournament. His best bowling 4/17 against Bihar in Bengaluru. He will pair up with the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur. Jasprit Bumrah announced his marriage on Monday, would be missing out after being on an extended leave.

As for Krunal Pandya, the Baroda all-rounder is yet to make his ODI debut, and could finally get his chance to join the 18-member squad for the 50-over series Cricbuzz reported.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja – who has resumed training – will continue to remain on the sidelines for a little more time, due to fitness issues.
