BCB Haven’t Ruled Out Proposed T20 Games Between Asia XI And World XI

Virat Kohli Was Expected To Feature For Asia XI When The Special Games Were Announced In Late February:

On Thursday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said they did not rule out the possibility of hosting two international T20 matches between Asia XI and World XI to mark the centennial birth of Bangladesh ‘s founder, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Earlier, the board postponed the two planned matches in light of the latest COVID-19 outbreak. The matches were scheduled to take place on 21 and 22 March, while an AR Rahman concert was scheduled to take place on 18 March.

We still have plans to host [World XI and Asia XI T20 matches], “BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters Thursday at the Sher-e-Bangl National Stadium.” “You know we had to [postpone] the plans we had to celebrate the nation’s father’s birth centenary because of the pandemic,’ he said. We have not fully ruled out those plans and we will definitely implement those plans if the situation makes us,” he said.

Although the coronavirus situation in the country has yet to stabilize, the BCB has trying to restart cricket with the October 11 three-team 50-over competition, calling it the BCB President Cup.

They would host a domestic T20 tournament after the 50-over tournament and if they can host these tournaments successfully, they are assured of bringing back international cricket at home, which will return in January via the home series against West Indies, who are scheduled to play three tests and as many ODIs along with two T20Is.

“As part of the FTP pledge, the West Indies series [in January 2021] stands and we take them with us regularly. They have asked for little details and we have given it to them,” said Nizamuddin.
