UAE scrambled as Afif Hossain saves Bangladesh

BAN vs UAE First T20I Match Highlights:

Match Summary

Bangladesh defeated UAE by seven runs in the first T20I in Dubai thanks to Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s leadership on two separate occasions. The guests won their maiden T20I match in the homeland in front of a small crowd that was primarily made up of overseas Bangladesh people.

Following the start, Bangladesh recovered from 47 for 4 and withstood Chirag Suri’s ferocious batting debut before 16-year-old debutant Aayan Khan gave them one more scare in the final three overs of the 159-run chase.

Afif recorded the game’s highest score with an unbeaten 77, Miraz took three wickets, made two outstanding catches, including one with his bowling, and Bangladesh won thanks to Shoriful Islam’s two wickets in the final over.

Afif Hossain was awarded the player of the match for his incredible 77 runs from 55 balls, after the match, he stated that “Always feels good to bat under pressure, I wanted to bat till the end, and good to come out of it as a success. No extra pressure on us despite missing a few senior players. We have to play our best XI at all times. I hope I can get runs in the next game as well. The fans were really good, thanks to them.”

Future vision

To improve their T20 World Cup 2022 preparations before the competition, Bangladesh will play two T20 Internationals in the UAE. Both teams are still recovering from their unsuccessful Asia Cup campaigns.

Nurul Hasan who is the leading Bangladesh side after the match stated, “They bowled well in the powerplay, we lost three wickets. There was also dew so our bowlers couldn’t grip it, we felt we were short by 10-15 runs. We missed wickets in the powerplay but our bowlers Shoriful and Miraz bowled very well at the death. Afif played a terrific rotating strike throughout, which was crucial for us.”

Bangladesh barely makes it out of this one to lead 1-0. On Tuesday, these two sides will square off once more. Will the Bangladesh side whitewash the series or will the UAE side level the series?
