Australia Continues Their Winning Streak

Since Australia is all set to visit India in January next year, Cricket Australia announced the 14-man squad for ODIs to be played in the subcontinent.

The ODIs will be held in January 2020. For the three-match ODI series, Mumbai, Rajkot, and Bengaluru are the venues. Pakistan and Sri Lanka were defeated by Aaron Finch’s men in five T20Is, and Aussies will now look to continue their form.

Marnus Labuschange has been selected for the upcoming series. After his debut in 2015, Labuschange’s average was 37.83 for Queensland in domestic cricket.

His ‘strong white-ball form’ earned him a call-up for Queensland. Beginning from South Africa, the 25-year old has been having a dream run in Tests, scoring 1022 runs at 68.13, which is very impressive.

Chief selector says Labuschagne is ready for white-ball debut

“Similar to the Test team, we are wanting the white-ball squad to continue the form of the unbeaten T20 Series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka,” Trevor Hohns, the national selector, was quoted as saying.

“The performance of the top order at home through the T20 series was very strong, so we look for that to continue in the Indian ODI series. We also believe Marnus Labuschagne is ready for his international white-ball debut after his strong form for Queensland in this form of the game,” Hohns added.

Both Sean Abbot and Kane Richardson, who have been part of the recent T20I squads, have also been included. The pace troika of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins will lead the team’s bowling attack.

The spin-department will be bolstered by Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar. The head coach of the Australian team, Justin Langer, will not be visiting India for the short tour.

In his place, the assistant coach, Andrew McDonald, will be in charge. The series will start on January 14 and will be followed by matches on January 17 and 19.
