In the ongoing highly thrilling series between the two giants of cricket world, team Australia are aiming to take a lead against Sri Lanka when they face off each other in the third ODI on June 19 at R. Premadasa Stadium.

The 5-match ODI series is currently on balanced level as both team won 1-1 match each and the team who will win the third ODI will get a lead in the series.

After a T20I series win against the hosts, Australia started the ODI campaign with a win.Australia vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI

In the first ODI, Sri Lanka posted a strong total of 299 on board. However, with the batting heroics of Glenn Maxwell Australia won the first ODI. Maxwell played an unbeaten knock of 80 off just 51 to help the visitors win the series opener.

Sri Lanka then bounced back in the second ODI and beat the mighty Australia by 26 runs under DLS.

While batting first the hosts only managed to put 220 on board, but their bowlers did a great job by restricting Australia to just 189 runs and won the game by 26 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Chamika Karunaratne bagged 3 wickets, while Dushmantha Chameera, Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellalage took 2-2 wickets each.

Now, after the two games of the series, the battle is not a one-sided anymore like the T20Is. Both the teams are strong on paper, and are eager to win the game at any costs.

For Australia, David Warner and Aaron Finch can play a crucial role in building a strong total. While their middle order batters like Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head need to play a solid cricket in order to set or reach the target.

The bowlers of Australia are somehow doing good job and they need to play similar kind of cricket in the third ODI to grab the lead in the series. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, not a weak team either and they will also look to win the game to take control.
