AUS VS NZ T20 World Cup 2022: Allen, Conway Blow Australia Away, Black Caps Score 200 in First Innings

AUS Vs NZ First Innings Update

The Super 12 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is here and it is some opening. The cracker between Australia and New Zealand set the tone for the WC and how! It is an exciting match where New Zealand came full power and hit 200 in the first innings. Australia now needs 201 to chase for the win. Let us look at AUS Vs NZ First Innings Update in detail.

New Zealand Set 201 For Australia

Finn Allen’s power-hitting lit up the SCG, and he started immediately after the first over. Australia was aback by the assault after scoring 14, 15, and 17 runs off the opening three overs. Although Allen finally got the boot for a 16-ball 42, he had contributed to New Zealand’s finest powerplay in World Cup history.

Williamson’s troubles were exploited by Australia, while Conway at the other end made sure the scoring never stopped. The southpaw played the ideal innings; he backed Conway, gave the middle overs energy, and then used Neesham to put a solid finish on the innings. Australia faces a formidable pursuit, and success will need some work.

In the bowling department, none of the bowlers were able to impress. They all get hit all over the park and it was not a pleasant sight for the Australian fans. They failed to take much-required breakthroughs. When the wickets came, they were not able to leave an impact on the new batter. All batters from New Zealand were tough on them.

What the Power Hitter said

Allen came in and started hitting that it was impossible to stop them. He looked beastly and set the momentum for New Zealand. Talking about the innings he said:

“Got a call last night (being included in the XI) and had the night to sleep on it and get ready for today. We talked about throwing the first punch and not letting them settle early. It was just committing to that and being fearless. It’s a good competitive score. We’ve done half the job, hopefully, we can finish it off.”

Innings Analysis

It was a shoddy display of bowling from Australia. From the very first over, the Kiwis showed they are not letting Australia take any home advantage. They started off with 14 runs and the series continued till the end. They scored 200. Even though Australia has amongst the deepest batting lineup of the tournament they should be wary of the bowling of the Black Caps.

The man of the moment is definitely Finn Allen and Devon Conway. Conway missed his century just by 8 runs and came back to pavilion 92 not out. He will be a happy man tonight. Australia will hope to replicate the performance by Kiwis or play even better.
