Sri Lanka on Thursday night defeat Bangladesh in a nail bitter, Sri Lanka won the match by 2 wickets and qualified for the further stages of the competition (Super 4).
Chanuka Rajapaksa started by saying “The tournament was originally planned to be scheduled in Sri Lanka but due to the situations in Sri Lanka the tournament had to be shifted to UAE.”
Dasun Shanaka controversial Statement
When asked about the recent statements given by the Sri Lankan Skipper Shanakas, Bhanuka replied saying “Firstly talking of the statement that the captain made, I don’t think he meant anything wrong, what he meant was you know we have a slight advantage facing the Bangladesh bowlers, so what happened there was a small miss understanding between the two teams and you know of course it’s like India vs Pakistan playing like Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka quite rivals but we are really good friends out of the field.”
He further added saying “So it’s just you know some words could really hurt players and the staff but what we meant was or what the captain meant was not what went through the media, but you know it’s always fun facing Bangladeshis and we have always had a friendly rivalry contest, so hoping that we would have those challenges in the future as well.”
All this drama started when Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanakas compared Bangladesh bowlers with Afghanistan bowlers saying “Afghanistan has a world-class bowling attack. We know Fizz is a good bowler. Shakib is a world-class bowler. But apart from them, there is no world-class bowler on the side. So if we compare with Afghanistan, Bangladesh is an easier opponent.”
