Asia Cup 2022 PAK vs HK: Pakistan Beats Hongkong by 155 Runs, Confirms Clash With India on Sunday

PAK vs HK Match Summary: The results were expected but the way it happened, wasn’t. In the last group stage match of Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan beats Hongkong by a massive margin of 155 runs. They wrapped up Hongkong on mere 38 runs, gaining their biggest victory by runs in T20 cricket.

The Pakistani bowlers were straight out of a dream sequence as the team bundled off Hongkong in the last knockout match on just 38 runs. This is the lowest total in Asia Cup history, the lowest by any team against Pakistan, and the lowest total by Hongkong themselves.

The Hongkong scorecard doesn’t even look like a phone number as there are so many zeros in it. The only double figures are the extras that were given by Pakistani bowlers who looked lethal today.

Earlier today, even after a slow start, Pakistan’s Rizwan, Zaman, and Khushdil pulled off a miracle by the bat as they dragged the team from 64 in the first 10 to 193 in the last 10 overs. Continuing the momentum, Pakistan bowlers, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz ensured that the team did not have trouble defending the total as they shared 7 wickets among them for only 13 runs. Nazeem Shah took 2 wickets while Dahani took 1.

It’s Pakistan’s largest T20I victory, and what a way to head into the match with India on Sunday, which has now been confirmed. Hong Kong demonstrated some resistance against India the other day while pursuing a somewhat identical target, but the situation has been completely different in Sharjah.

The losing captain, Nizakat Khan said, “Lots of learnings from these two games. Credit to Pakistan for the way they played. Shot making, I must admit, was poor. We’ll take back the professionalism of the two teams.”

On the other side, Pakistan’s winning captain, Babar Azam talked about the team’s performance today as he said, “Very nice victory for us. The wicket was keeping low, but the way we batted and finished was outstanding. We want the top-orders batters to stay till the end, and the lower ones to bat around them. The way Naseem and Dahani have debuted, they have shown brilliant performances.”

Mohammad Rizwan pulled off what is usual from him and garnered the Player of the match award, talking about his performance, he said, “Most important for us to adjust to the conditions even if it is T20 cricket. The ball was keeping low. We tried hitting, but it wasn’t coming off. Then we charged down, keeping in mind the ball was staying low. I believe in hard work… Being a senior player, you have to take responsibility. You have to play according to the team, and there will be pressure. I request everyone to help the people of Pakistan, who are in trouble [due to the floods]”

Pakistan will next play India on Sunday in another high-profile Super 4 match. Stay tuned!
