Ashes 2019: Will Mark Wood Return From Injury ?

England paceman Mark Wood had a side strain during the World Cup finals. He would be recovered from the injury till the Ashes begin and could be a part of the English squad, Ashes is all set to begin from August 1st.

Wood will be out for six weeks after suffering from the side strain in the world cup finals. He will not be available for the next week one-off test against Ireland at Lord’s. But Wood will still hope that he can get back and recover well. And give a solid come back statement in the last two tests of the five series test of Ashes.

“I might make the last couple (of Tests). It all depends on selection. My side injury is four to six weeks, so hopefully, I’ll still play a part towards the end of the season, but if not it’s been a fantastic summer so far for English cricket. There’s still plenty more to go and hope for me there’s still a bit more cricket to play.” – Wood said.

Wood was the key player in the World Cup finals and bowled the fastest delivery of the tournaments.

“To be honest, it’s so hard to believe,” – He added.

Wood has suffered from persistent injury problems throughout his career by which he had played 13 tests in four years.

“You’d think by now it would have sunk in but to be world champions, it still gives me goosebumps listening back to it and watching it. I’m still feeling on top of the world. I know I might have an injury, but I didn’t look past the World Cup initially. I know the Ashes is round the corner but I’m over the moon that I’ve got the dream of the World Cup.” – Wood said.
