Army Chief Approves MS Dhoni’s Request To Train With the Parachute Regiment

Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has approved MS Dhoni’s request to train with the Parachute Regiment of the Indian army for two months. And will not be a part of the squad for the West Indies Tour, which will start from August 3rd, 2019.

MSD had undergone the mega tournament ICC World Cup 2019, with an equal share of criticism and applauds. People questioned about his slow scoring rate and on his intent for winning the game for India.  But he had closed some of them by his batting performance in the semi-final against New Zealand where India had almost had the game in their back but lost it in the end.

Dhoni, who has not been included in any of the squads for India’s tour of the West Indies, had already made his intentions of training with the Indian army clear and honorary Lt Col will now train with a Territorial Army battalion of the Parachute regiment for two months.

The request has now been approved by the Indian Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat and the honorary Lt Col would train with the Parachute regiment battalion,”  – Army sources told.

Parts of the training is expected to take place in Jammu and Kashmir, but the army has made it clear that the former Indian skipper will not take part in any active operation undertaken by the regiment.
