Anrich Nortje, the fast bowler of South Africa has set the platform on fire while debuting in this IPL season. On Wednesday (14-10-2020), in the match between Delhi Capital and Rajasthan Royals, he bowled the fastest delivery in the history of IPL, which the DC won by 13 runs.
Nortje smashed a stunning 156.22 kmph or 97 mph to break the last record. And in the next delivery, he picked the wicket of Jos Buttler. This ball was bowled at 155.1 kmph. With this speed, Nortje was able to break the record of Dale Steyn, whose speed was 154.40 kmph in IPL history.

The thing absolutely surprising is that in the top 10 fastest deliveries bowled in the history of IPL, Anrich Nortje has made five to his name. And the top three fastest deliveries bowled by Nortje.
In this IPL season, Nortje was introduced in Delhi Capitals as a replacement of all-rounder of England, Chris Woakes and through his expertise, he proved to be an outstanding efficient player for Delhi Capitals who are eyeing their 1st IPL title.
The fast bowling partnership of Nortje –Rabada has been an important contributor to Delhi Capital’s success this season. Jointly they have taken 28 wickets in 2020 IPL so far.
Before 2019 IPL, Nortje was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders. He appeared in 8 matches and so far picked 10 wickets but due to injury, he missed that season.
For South Africa, Nortje has played 6 Test matches, 7 ODIs, and 3 T20Is, took 35 wickets.
