AFG vs SL 1st Innings Update

After winning the toss Afghanistan decided to bat first and in came Gurbaz and Usman Ghani who are solid in providing a good start to Innings. Gurbaz played a quick cameo of 28 runs from 24 balls with two fours and two sixes. On the other hand, Usman Ghani also scored a quick 27 runs off 27 balls.

After the completion of 20 overs of the 32nd match of the T20 World Cup 2022, Afghanistan’s total is 144. In the first innings, Afghanistan managed to score 144 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Strong Powerplay

Afghanistan were standing strong in the powerplay, they were able to score a decent powerplay score of 42 for the loss of zero wickets.

In the first 10 overs, Usman Ghani and Ibrahim Zadran utilized the opportunity, scoring 68 runs for the loss of one wicket. The batting team managed to hit a few boundaries.

Kasun Rajitha bowled the 17th over of the game and was unsuccessful, where he conceded 12 runs. A total of 7 runs and a wicket came off the 18th over of the innings bowled by Maheesh Theekshana.

The 19th over of the innings was bowled by Kasun Rajitha who kept things tight, conceding just 9 runs. The 20th over of the innings was bowled by Wanindu Hasaranga and it was an impressive one. Afghanistan batsmen were only able to score 3 runs and lost 2 wickets.

During the death overs, Afghanistan was able to score 31 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. The highest partnership of the innings was between Gurbaz and Usman Ghani who contributed 42 runs for the opening partnership.

Highest Strike-rate

The run rate at the end of the 20th over is 7.2. Gurbaz scored the highest number of runs by hitting two sixes and two fours at a strike rate of 116.67.

Sri Lanka is on the chase

Sri Lanka now needs 145 runs to win from 20 overs in order to stay alive in the group stages.
