The veteran Batsman celebrates his 37th birthday

On September 23, 1985, Rayudu was born in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. Sambasiva Rao, his father, worked in the archives department.

Early Life 

Rayudu began his career in the late 1990s, playing for Hyderabad youth teams at the Under-16 and Under-19 levels. In 2000, he played for India’s Under-15s at the ACC Under-15 Trophy 2000, where he finished as the competition’s top run-scorer.

Rayudu’s style   

He made his first-class debut for Hyderabad in the 2001–02 Ranji Trophy. Ambati Rayudu is one of the most skilled stroke makers in Indian cricket. He was dubbed as the “next big thing” in the early stages of his career. From leading India’s Under-19 team to the World Cup semifinal in 2004 to his retirement from international cricket in 2018, Rayudu had a difficult time playing for India. 

IPL star 

In 2010, Rayudu debuted for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In 2018, he was acquired by the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. He has won the IPL championship five times With the Mumbai Indians in 2013, 2015, 2017, and with Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and 2021, he won the championship. 10th Indian to reach 4000 run milestone in IPL
