Cricketers one must have in the team:

These players command huge respect in the dressing room. They are potential match winners who could turn the game on its head. The reason for them not generating inflated price tags is that they chose to fly under the radar. These cricketers are solid yet underrated among the cricketing circles.

We look at 6 MVPs between 6-8 crores in IPL 2023:

#6 Josh Hazlewood – 7.75 crores

He played an important role in CSK’s title-winning triumph in 2021. Josh Hazlewood is a vastly improved T20 bowler. He hit the back of a length frequently. His death bowling skills also came to the fore on the flat wickets of UAE. CSK had to release Hazlewood owing to the auction dynamics. RCB quickly acquired Josh Hazlewood in the mega auction for INR 7.75 crores. The fast bowler proved to be a vital asset for the team as RCB reached their third successive playoff.

#5 Quinton De Kock – 6.75 crores

He is one of the most underrated openers in limited-overs cricket. Quinton De Kock played a stellar role in Mi’s consecutive title wins in 2019 and 2020. He didn’t have the greatest of seasons in 2021 and Mumbai released him ahead of the mega auction. The Lucknow Super Giants got de Kock for a deal at INR 6.75 crores. He was amongst the top three run scorers in the season notching up more than 500 runs. The left-hander will be crucial to LSG’s chances time around too.

#4 Anrich Nortje – 6.50 crores

He announced himself on the big stage in IPL 2020 delivering one thunderbolt after the other. Anrich Nortje was one of the main reasons behind Delhi reaching the playoffs twice in two years. The Capitals had no hesitation in retaining him ahead of the mega auction. He was DC’s fourth retention having been signed for INR 6.50 crores. Nortje is a solid retention at that price.

#3 Jonny Bairstow – 6.75 crores

He was on a rampage in the Tests at home against New Zealand and India. Jonny Bairstow was in beast mode throughout the red ball summer. If that is any indication then expect him to light up the upcoming IPL. Before the 2022 season, Bairstow was one of those rare players who struck above 140 while averaging above 40 in IPL. He is one of the finest batters in world cricket at the moment. Punjab bought in Bairstow at just INR 6.75 crores. It was one of the big steals of the mega auction.

#2 Yuzvendra Chahal – 6.50 crores

He showcased his worth in IPL 2022 bagging the purple cap. Yuzvendra Chahal is an old-school wrist spinner. He is someone who tries to deceive the batsmen in the air. Chahal bowls loopy leg breaks to outsmart the batters. He spent almost 8 seasons with RCB but was released ahead of the mega auction in 2022. RR bought him for INR 6.50 crores.

#1 Sunil Narine – 6.00 crores

He is one of the three players to have won the MVP twice in the IPL. Sunil Narine continues to fox batsmen with his canny bowling. Batsmen generally don’t have an idea of which way the ball is turning. Sunil Narine still concedes less than 6 runs per over in T20Is consistently. Add to his bowling is the batting muscle he provides to KKR. No wonder KKR signing him for just INR 6 crores seems a mighty steal.
