Five Most Important Records In T20 Cricket Which Haven’t Been Broken For More Than A Decade:
In professional cricket, the Twenty20 cricket is the most recent format, which has started in the year 2003 at the time of the English domestic season. In between these two years, the new format of Twenty20 came into existence at the international level.
In these 17 years, there are a variety of records because of the increasing demand for this type of format.

1. Maximum successive wins (2010)
Many squads have registered long winning streaks recently but let’s know about the team who has the biggest winning streak record in the T20 cricket. And it is Sialkot Stallions, who won 25 times consecutively in T20 format across six domestic tournaments between the years 2006 and 2010.
The consecutive winning strategy finally ends in October 2010 when Sialkot lacked 14 runs to win against Rawalpindi Rams. To date, no other team than Sialkot win more than 15 successive matches in the T20 format.
2. Youngest captain (2009)
During the tournament between Quetta Bears and Faisalabad Wolves, a total of ten members were playing their debut match. The Quetta Bears itself had six newcomers including the captain of the team Taimur Ali. At that time, he was just 17 years 358 days old, just a week away from his 18th birthday.
Taimur was a well- known figure as he represented the Pakistan U-19 team at the age of 15-16.
By playing the debut match for Quetta Bears, he became the youngest captain in the T20 format, and this record is still alive after 17 years.
3. Maximum byes conceded in a match (2008)
In the International Cricket, Mark Boucher is renowned for his outstanding wicket keeping. But one record is his name, he might not be proud of, which came in 2008, during a Twenty20 match against West Indies. The wicketkeeper of South Africa conceded more than 15 runs through byes. These numbers are the maximum number of byes a wicketkeeper conceded in a Twenty 20 match.
The Interesting fact is that all those 15 runs byes came in the last five overs in between 15th-20th over of West Indies’s innings. In that innings, the last over was bowled by Morne Morkel and Daren Sammy had started by hitting a six. In the next five balls, he collected eight runs including seven runs of then through byes. The innings of West Indies concluded with 131 runs with a loss of 7 wickets out of which 29 runs came by extras (9 leg-byes, 5 wides, and 15 byes).
These 15 byes done by Mark Boucher are not only the maximum conceded by a wicketkeeper in a Twenty20 match but also all runs in a single match in all T20 format.
4. Best performance on debut Match (2007)
A former player of Australia, Michael Dighton was able to enlist himself in the list of cricketers who scored a century as well as took 6-wickets haul in their T20 career.
Generally, Michael Dighton is an opening batsman and during his debut Twenty20 tournament, he smashed 111 run knock playing for Tasmania during his debut match Twenty20 tournament- the KFC Australian Twenty20 2006-07. Against New South Wales, the innings of Michael Dighton stood as the best Twenty20 score in Australia until 2012.
Occasionally, Dighton was doing wicket keeping and also played an important role of medium-pace bowler sometimes. During his Twenty20 debut match, Tasmania was struggling against Queensland, who scored 164/3 by the 15th over. Dighton was playing as the 7th bowler of the Tasmania team who was trying to break 4th wicket partnership who already scored 126 runs. In his first over, Dighton dismissed both the batsmen and picked three wickets.
In his second over, he took one more wicket and a couple of more wickets in the last over of the innings and was able to limit the Queensland to 202/9.
After the innings of Queensland, Tasmania was bowled out for only 164 runs and the bowling figures of Dighton 3-0-25-6 went vain. But Michael Dighton became the first player in the history of T20, who took 6-wickets haul on debut match.
5. Maximum dismissals in a match (2005)
Sri Lanka was the third country, who accepted T20 format and in 2004, they hosted the first domestic Twenty20 tournament. In this tournament, a total of 16 teams participated which was played in the style of knockout.
The next, 2005 edition was a very long tournament and on the second day itself, the tournament witnessed a world record. At the Bloomfield of Colombo, Moors Sports Club won against Lankan Cricket Club. Moors Sports Club batted at first, but dismissed in 19.5 overs by scoring only 119 runs.
The Lankan Cricket Club reached the target of 120 runs with three wickets and three balls to spare. Upul Fernando, the wicketkeeper of Lankan CC scored an unbeaten 58 runs.
This score was not the first massive contribution of Fernando. He had taken seven catches during the innings of the Mooors. The seven catches of Upul Fernando in that tournament made him hold the record for maximum dismissals in a Twenty20 match. In the cricketing history of T20, it is the oldest existing record.
