4 Youngsters India Need To Groom

One of the major highlights of IPL 2022 was the performance of unknown players. Players young in age but high on skill were the talking points this season. Most of these players fall under the uncapped territory zone. These players put in consistent performances throughout the season.

They rightfully earned the praise that came their way. These youngsters have the potential. It is now up to the Indian selectors, management, and support staff to groom these youngsters.

We look at 4 such Youngsters India Need To Groom

#4 Rinku Singh

It is not easy playing the role of a finisher in limited-overs cricket. The task gets doubly difficult in the game’s ultra-short format. Not many intend to take up this role fearing the modest success rate that one can achieve batting at the death. But here was a youngster who waited so desperately for an opportunity that he took the challenge with both hands.

Rinku Singh on more occasions than one showed his talent batting lower down the order. He won a tense game against RR. Singh almost won the game against LSG from a hopeless position. He is a terrific fielder. Singh can be a complete package in the T20Is especially. He needs to be taken under the wings sooner rather than later.

#3 Mohsin Khan

It has been a really long time since India had a quality left-arm seamer in their ranks. Mohsin Khan looks all set to fill that void. The tall left-arm seamer impressed one and all with his impeccable line and length. He made the ball talk, especially in the powerplay. His disconcerting bounce made the batsmen uncomfortable. The uncapped youngster led the Lucknow attack comprising international bowlers. He is certainly someone who looks like an Indian prospect. Khan needs to be tracked heading into the future.

#2 Tilak Varma

For the longest time this season uncapped, Tilak Varma was topping the batting charts for Mumbai. Varma showed no signs of nervousness on the big stage. He looked at ease against both spin and pace. Varma’s inexperience was there to be seen as he failed to finish a couple of games. But his calmness under pressure was the biggest takeaway for Mumbai this year. Rohit Sharma has already touted that Varma will play for the country in all three formats. His 397-runs this season is surely a sign of things to come.

#1 Umran Malik

He is India’s answer to the 100 miles per hour club. Umran Malik had shown a lot of promise in IPL 2021 itself. The SRH management showed a lot of faith in Malik. They retained him ahead of many other promising stars. But Malik repaid the faith handsomely. He bowled a couple of game-changing spells this season.

His fiver against the Gujarat Titans was one of the spells of the tournament. He bowled with venom and fire right throughout. Malik finished fourth on the wicket-takers list. He has been selected for the Indian team in the series against South Africa. Malik is a prospect India needs to take the most care of.
