Yuvraj Singh Says There Is Lack Of Respect For Seniors Now

Former star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has lamented that there is a lack of respect towards seniors among the current generation of players.

Yuvraj spoke to Rohit Sharma through video conference and when the current opening batsman asked what is the difference between the current players and his generation players he said that the seniors were very disciplined when he came into the team and they had to carry themselves with certain behavior.

Yuvraj Singh: You have To Be More Careful About Your Image When You Play For India

“When I came into the team or when you (Rohit) came into the team, our seniors were very disciplined. Obviously there were no social media so there were no distractions,” said Yuvraj.

“There was a certain behaviour that we boys had to carry, how they talk to people, how they talk to media. Because they were the ambassadors of the game and India.”

The left-handed batsman feels that is not the case anymore as the respect towards seniors has become thin now.

“So that is what I had told you guys. After playing for India, you have to be more careful about your image. But I feel the third generation. There are only you two seniors, Virat and you, who are playing all the formats, rest of the guys are coming and going.”

“I just feel there are very fewer guys to look up to and I feel that a sense of respect towards seniors, that has become a thin line now. Koi bhee kisiko kuch bhee keh deta hain (anyone can say anything to anyone,” added Yuvraj.

“Most Youngsters Are Not Interested In Test Cricket”

Yuvraj also commented on the infamous incident where Hardik Pandya and K.L.Rahul were suspended for their loose talk on women. He said that incident would not have happened during this time.

The twice World Cup winner also said most of the young players today did not want to play Tests which was real cricket and are happy playing one-day cricket.
