This Day: Great Game Of Sehwag, Dravid & Sachin Led India To Win Vs Pakistan

Virender Sehwag-Rahul Dravid centuries:

On this day in the year 2005 (02-04-2005), the first one day international (ODI) match of Pakistan’s tour of India was held in Kochi. Both the captains came for the toss. India skipper Sourav Ganguly won the toss and opted to bat first.

The opening batsman of India Virender Sehwag and vice-captain Rahul Dravid scored ODI centuries individually and put India in a very strong position.

These two batsmen shared a 201 runs partnership for the third wicket. But Sachin lost his wicket by scoring 4 runs and Ganguly dismissed at 0. All total India scored 281/8 in 50 overs.

Although India lost his important two wickets very quickly, Sehwag handled the situation and completed his half-century in 55 balls. In this meantime, Dravid took the time to settle down and also scored a half-century in consecutive overs.

On the 32nd over, the first delivery of Pakistan pacer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Sehwag ran for a single run and achieved his three-figure mark for the seventh time in ODIs.

With the help of three sixes and nine fours, Sehwag scored 108 runs in 95 balls and dismissed by Abdul Razzaq. In 45th over, Dravid completed his century and ended up with 104 runs in 139 balls with the help of six fours.

Tendulkar’s Tremendous Bowling Performance:

If we see the bowling figures of India, Tendulkar played a very crucial role in bundling the Pakistan team for 194 runs in 45.2 overs. Running through their middle order, Sachin didn’t allow the captain of Pakistan Inzamam-ul-Haq, who scored 37 runs and Mohammad Hafeez, who scored 42 runs to take advantage of their beginning. Sachin registered 10-1-50-5 bowling figures and his ODI five-wicket haul for the second time.

And finally, India achieved a tremendous win against Pakistan by 87 runs. Although it is history, that memories always be remembered as a golden chapter of Indian Cricket.
