South Africa vs Australia: Ashton Agar hat-trick in T20Is

In T20Is of Australia’s tour of South Africa, on the first T20I, happened in Johannesburg, South Africa, Ashton Agar( Australia all-rounder) became the second Australia player to make a T20I hat-trick. The first Australian player to make a T20I hat-trick was Brett Lee.

Ashton Agar registered a bowling figure of 4-0-24-5. He also made sure that he collected the best bowling figures compared to any Australian bowler. Agar has made the figures in such a way that it is surpassing the formats of James Faulkner’s (Australian all-rounder) 4-0-27-5 against Pakistan in Mohali in 2016. To date, it is only Faulkner and Agar who has a five-wicket haul.

In the match, Ashton Agar got a chance to play the eighth over as a third change bowler. As soon as he got into the field, he made an impact as he took three wickets that too in his first over.

With the loss of the four wickets for the host team, Faf du Plessis’ (former South African Captain) tried to play an aerial shot and Agar had seen him hitting the ball straight to Australia bowler Kane Richardson in the deep.

Andile Phehlukwayo ( South Africa all-rounder) was found edgy in front of the stumps as the hosts made things more complex for them.

Dale Steyn ( South Africa fast bowler) came out as the number 8 position player to play the hat-trick ball. Steyn edged the ball to Aron Finch (Australia Captain) and this ball helped the 26-year-old Agar to make his historic wicket.

South Africa got all-out with 89 runs in 14.3 overs. Australia won the match with 107-runs which stands as a winning note for the ongoing tour.
