Ravi Shastri Remebers Test Series Victory In Australia

Ravi Shastri, the cricket team head coach said that the Test series victory in 2018-19 in Australia for the first time in 71 years was very special. Also, he added that the 1985 World Championship win was the most remarkable memory for him as a player.

He said “It is really nice to be a part of those two teams of India, as a coach that series happened in Australia, which is very special and difficult to defeat because that team wasn’t defeated by any team of Asia in 71 years. There are many teams who have gone to Australia, tried their level best and everyone knows it very well that how tough to defeat Australia in their land in a Test match, but in white-ball cricket, you can’t defeat 1985 as a player. Winning both the matches is really fantastic.” Ravi Shastri said it on the ‘Sony Ten Pit Stop’ show.

India team became the first team of Asia to defeat the Australian team in a Test series at their home as the Virat-Kohli led team took the four-match series by 2-1. The first match was won by Australia by 34 runs and recorded their 1000th international cricket win, but team India came back very strongly and win the test series at ease.

Ravi Shastri also addressed the Indian team in the year 1985 to get better than the team which took the 1983 World Cup trophy under the mentorship of Kapil Dev.

The head coach of India further said “ No doubt that the team of 1985 will give any side that India puts up in white-ball cricket, a single run for their money. That 1985 team will give this squad a run for the money.”

“ I go one step further and say the 1985 side was a very stronger side as compared to the 1983 team. I was a part of both teams. I have involved in the World Cup 1983 as well as in 1985. When you consider every player, you have realized that 80% of that 83 squads were still there, but after that some of the young players like Sadanand, Azharussin, Sivaramakrishnan, Vishwanath were included in the team, which was really fantastic.”
