Pakistan Legend Zaheer Abbas Says Corona Has Given Good Break To Cricketers

Zaheer Abbas: No Cricket Action Now Is A Good Break For Cricketers

Pakistan legendary batsman Zaheer Abbas feels that lack of cricket action due to the wide spreading of coronavirus is a good break for modern cricketers who are always away from their homes traveling, as they can now spend time at their home with their families.

He said,” I think it is a good break for them. They always live on suitcases, play too much cricket, and rarely get time to be at home. Now they have got a chance to spend time with family.”

During this time, Abbas wanted the cricketers to introspect and work on their fitness. “I would suggest them to introspect, keep working on fitness and do whatever they were not able to because of their busy schedule. It will also keep them refreshed for the future,” added the former skipper.

“Health Is More Important Than Sport”

Though Abbas called the corona situation unprecedented and thinks life without sports is dull, he believes health is more important.

“Life without any live sports is dull, but health is the most important thing at this point. It is an unprecedented situation. I haven’t seen in my lifetime the whole world coming to a standstill. It’s going to affect every country, every field and sport is no exception. The financial losses will be huge,” he said.

Abbas who was supposed to be in London with his wife was forced to remain in Karachi due to the travel ban in the light of the corona outbreak.

He revealed that he is spending time watching old match recordings and talking to friends.

He further said,” I was supposed to go to London as my wife is there and the situation is very bad there. I am worried because of her. Pakistan team was scheduled to tour England and I was looking forward to watch the matches as we have a home near Lords, but suddenly the whole scenario has changed. All plans have been cancelled.”
