Mayank Agarwal Replaces Rohit Sharma In IND Vs NZ ODI

Mayank Agarwal Was Selected By The All India Senior Selection Committee:

Mayank Agarwal has been replaced Rohit Sharma’s place for the ODI series in the New Zealand tour. Rohit was ruled out of both the tests and ODIs due to a “calf muscle strain”. On Sunday BCCI said to media that Rohit was sustained during the final T20I in Mount Maunganui.

Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill were included in the team for the two-Test match series beginning from February 21. Prithvi Shaw gets a chance to make a return to the India Test squad and after impressing for India A vs New Zealand A.

“On Sunday, at Tauranga, Rohit Sharma sustained a left calf muscle strain during the fifth T20I against New Zealand. He went for an MRI scan in Hamilton on Monday. The vice-captain ruled out of the upcoming matches and will be referred to the NCA for further management for his injury,” the BCCI said in the press release.

“Mayank Agarwal selected by the All India Senior Selection Committee in the upcoming matches squad as Rohit’s replacement. The Committee also selected him in the Test squad for the two-match Test series.

Ishant Sharma has been named to the squad but participation will be decided after a fitness clearance. Navdeep Saini, who had decently taken wickets in the last matches which he played in the T20I series in New Zealand, has also selected in the squad.

Prithvi Shaw Returns:

Shaw, the young player made a spectacular double century in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy-opener against Baroda. But, he had recently injured while diving to save an overthrow during Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy game against Karnataka.

After the injury, the Mumbai opener was sent to the NCA in Bengaluru for an assessment of the left shoulder injury.

Shaw played as a top-order batsman for India A squad in New Zealand. In the second one-day warm-up match against New Zealand XI, he scored 150 runs. Virat Kohli also confirmed that Prithvi Shaw’s debut in One Day International matches against New Zealand.
