Dhoni’s Future’s Lurks In Darkness: Harsha Bhogle

Ever since India declared 21 days lockdown to fight against the menace of COVID 19, speculations pertaining to the cancellation of the 13th edition of IPL tournament being cancelled has been stronger. And if IPL 2020 is cancelled, it might be an end to Dhoni’s saga in the Indian Cricket team feels Harsha Bhogle.

“My gut feeling is that the ambitions of MS Dhoni to play for Indian cricket has just come to an end. Had the IPL taken place, his performance would have helped him to earn a slot in the T20 men’s world cup slot” said Harsha Bhogle in an exclusive interview with a sports website.

IPL Might Get Cancelled:

The sources from BCCI management revealed that the IPL 2020 tournament was likely to be canceled even after the lockdown period was called off. This is because, even if the lockdown period was called off, there would a lot of restrictions imposed on the movement of the people and also in terms of organizing events.

MS Dhoni Career Statistics:

MS Dhoni (38) was last seen playing for India in the 2019 world cup in England. During the 2019 world cup men in blue were knocked out of the league in semi-finals against New Zealand.

Ever since the loss, MS Dhoni took a break from a Cricketing career and had served in the Indian Army for some time. In a media statement earlier the Indian Coach, Ravi Shashtri had made it clear that MS Dhoni’s place for the T20 World cup would be decided based on his performance in IPL 2020.

Bhogle further added that even though if Dhoni is not given a place in Indian Team for T20 he might still want to contribute for Chennai Super Kings’.

“The Indian team still needs him for the world cup. He is always an asset to the Indian Cricket team behind the wicket. He contribution for binding an innings together has always been immense” said Keshav Banerjee, Dhoni’s Childhood coach to a leading sports website.
